Zeppelin Air - Be Aware Of These Problems First Before Buying

What Is The Zeppelin Air?
The Zeppelin Air from Bowers & Wilkins, a manufacturer of audiophile grade equipment is a wireless iPod docking speaker system. This means that with the use of your AirPlay application from Apple, you are able to wirelessly stream your music to the system. The stylish and aesthetically well designed American football or rugby ball-shaped iPod docking system consists of five-speakers and five Class D amplifier systems with built-in digital to analog converters (DACs) - all enclosed within this black football shaped design.

It produces one of the best quality and crisp sounds compared to other products at the same price range category. If you close your eyes and you listen to the sounds from a collection of competitive products within that price range, you will easily pick up the Zeppelin Air as the best. The sounds coming out of the system is as if it is coming from a true component Hi-Fi system with separate amp and pre-amps with their full range of floor standing speakers. Truly awesome!

However before you search for the link to buy the Zeppelin Air, you should also be aware of potential area where you have to be careful to avoid problems that many owners may have faced.

Weakness Of The Zeppelin Air
  • The setup. This is a road block area for some people. However if you figure out what to do, then you should not have any problems at all to set up the Zeppelin Air. This is the MOST IMPORTANT - You will have to heed the setup instructions carefully. Many owners have reported to have their unit setup in less than 10 minutes! Again like all current high-tech products, the more experience you have with setting up products, the easier it becomes. However if you follow the instructions, the setup goes exactly as it's described
  • It requires that your network name and password to only contain alphanumeric characters. Also take note not to use special characters like the ampersand "&" in your network name unless you don't mind spending some time on trouble shooting
  • You must only use WPA/WPA 2 Personal, WEP or No Security. This is because the Zeppelin Air does not support the WPA/WPA2 Enterprise security on your wireless G-compatible router
  • While this is not a negative aspect, do note that you will need sometime for the sound to open like any other speakers
  • There is a bug which prevents an iPhone 4s from streaming properly via AirPlay. The audio stop to sound via the Zeppelin Air after a matter of seconds. Bowers & Wilkins are aware of this and I believe they are working on to fix that bug
  • I do not feel this a weakness but nonetheless it will be good to know. The Zeppelin Air comes with a stylish egg-shape remote. However being egg-shaped, it is confusing to tell which way is up or down without looking at it!
Is There A Show Stopper To Buying The Zeppelin Air?

I do not think so. The reason is because you are now aware of the likely problematic areas particularly in the setup of the Zeppelin Air, you should be able to steer clear of it. On top of that, if you follow the guidelines above, then you should be able to set up your unit in no time.

If you are looking for a wireless iPod docking system that is not only good looking and stylish but one that gives you the very best reproduction of music - some even say that it is better than those on the higher price range, then you should go ahead and get the Zeppelin Air. You can get Zeppelin Air from this link at one of the best price in the market.

Zeppelin Air - The Best iPod Speakers? Check This One Out Or You Will Regret It

What Is The Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air?

The complete name of the Zeppelin Air is the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air Wireless AirPlay Speaker Dock. Even though its name may sound like a German air ship, it is not an air ship but an air ship shaped iPod docking speaker system from Bowers & Wilkins. If you are a fan of audio systems you will be aware of the fact that Bowers & Wilkins is one of the top company in the audiophile grade equipment. Hence you would count on a speaker from them to give you a high quality sound and you will not be disappointed with the Zeppelin Air.

The air ship shaped speaker system consists of five-speakers and five-amplifier systems with built-in digital to analog converters (DACs) to provide you flawless, ear-pleasing sound from a variety of input sources such as the iPod, iPhone, iPad and also your iTunes enabled computer.

The Sounds Of The B&W Zeppelin Air

The snazzy and well-constructed Zeppelin Air has wireless capabilities. Instead of just sticking your iPod to the speaker system, you can also stream your music to it with Apple's AirPlay technology. When you stream to the system, your music fills your room with a very well-balanced, detailed and magnificent sound with the 24-bit/96 KHz DAC technology with Class D amplifiers.

The highs are detailed while the mids are warm and full. Impressively the bass is magnificent given the size and design of the system. In fact this system sounds as good as a mid to higher priced range component Hi-Fi system with their full order of floor standing speakers with their separate amps and pre-amps.

The Connections Of The Air

If you need to physically connect your iPod to the Zeppelin Air, you will find that its iPod connector is one of the best designed in the market today. Even though most people will probably stream their music to it and control it remotely, the designers at Bowers & Wilkins have given a good thought to the design of the connector. They designed the connector with no sides so that you can even slot in your iPad on there. The Zeppelin Air has a metal bar holding it to take care of the stability and strength. As far as I know, this is something that is not available with other iPod docking speakers in the market.
